The alarm went off early, too early, and she didn’t really want to get out of her cozy warm nest. But it was Sunday, and she could not miss church so she slid out from the covers and made up the bed so she wouldn’t be tempted to back in. She brewed her coffee with one eye on that cozy nest and the other on the shower. Well, it’s Sunday so after church I’ll have the rest of the day to nap and do nothing. She decided she could make it.

Coffee, toast, and a shower; grab the keys, the purse and off she went. She rushed out the door not wanting to be late for service, remembered, and ran back in to grab me – off we went.

We arrived in plenty of time to get a good seat close to the front. She loved to be up front, that’s where all the excitement is. Later there will be dancing and shouting – giving praise to our Lord and she wanted to be right in the middle of it – it fuels her spirit for the long week ahead. She sat me down in the seat next to her, gave me a little pat and didn’t touch me again until after service was over, she knew I would wait. Oh, it was a grand one too. The preacher was on point pacing back and forth across the stage and sharing the Word of God in a mighty fashion. Soon everyone was excited and clapping. That followed with shouting and praising and worship that would raise the hair on your neck – it was a fabulous service – just the refueling she needed from her long work week.

She moved through the crowd on the way out the door stopping to shake hands and talk with several people about the fantastic message the Pastor had given. There was talk about the family and the week ahead and where everyone was going for lunch. The crowd moved along toward the door and she with them. The church became quiet, the lights went out. I sat on my seat. A few minutes later the lights came on, there was laughing at the door, and her hand reached out to pick me up, “I forgot you again” she said sighing.

Lunch was fun and conversations were lively. The talk about the pastor’s message had subsided and became talk about next weeks’ and questions as to what that service would be like and if sister ‘so n so’ would have another prophecy to share. It seemed like a very long day from the time the alarm went off until lunch was over, and she was relieved to be back home, slip into something more comfortable and get her nap. She slid off her shoes, changed her clothes, and laid me to rest…

The alarm went off early, too early, and she didn’t really want to get out of her cozy warm nest. But it is Sunday…
